Coral Reef


Sea Zone | Coral Reef | Coral reefs are underwater structures made of calcium carbonate secreted by corals. Coral reefs are colonies of tiny animals found in marine waters with low nutrients. Most coral reefs are composed of stony corals, which in turn consist of polyps that cluster in groups. . Reefs grow best in warm, shallow, clear, sunny and agitated waters.

Seaweed

Sea Zone | Seaweed | Most people know two general types of seaweed wrecks (members of the brown algal order Fucales such as Fucus) and kelps (members of the brown algal order Laminariales such as Laminaria), and many have heard of Carrageenan or Irish Moss (usually a red alga , Chondrus crispus), and Dulse or Dillisk (a red alga, Palmaria palmata). 

Jellyfish

Cookiecutter shark

 
Sea Zone | Cookiecutter shark | The cookiecutter shark (Isistius brasiliensis), also known as the cigar shark, a species of small dogfish shark in the family Dalatiidae. This shark occurs in warm ocean waters worldwide, especially in the vicinity of islands and is recorded as deep as 3.7 kilometers (2.3 miles). It moves vertically up to 3 km (1.9 miles) every day, approaching the surface at dusk and descending at dawn. Reaching only 42-56 cm (17-22 inches) in length, the cookie cutter shark a long, cylindrical body with a short, blunt snout, large eyes, two tiny spineless dorsal fins and a large tail fin. It is dark brown in color, with light-emitting photophores cover its bottom with the exception of a dark "collar" around his neck and gill slits.

Spiny dogfish

 
Sea Zone | Spiny dogfish | Spiny dogfish are caught for food in Europe, the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Chile. The meat is consumed primarily in England, France, the Benelux countries and Germany. The fins and tails are processed and used to find needles in less expensive versions of shark fin soup in Chinese cuisine.

Broadnose sevengill shark

Sea Zone | Broadnose sevengill shark | The Broadnose Sevengill Shark (Notorynchus cepedianus) is unique among cow sharks in the only member of his order inhabit relatively shallow coastal waters throughout the year. All other members of the Order Hexanchiformes normally inhabit the relentless cold and darkness of the deep sea. As a result of its accessible habitat is the life history, ecology and behavior of Broadnose Sevengill better than that of a relative unknown.
